Albums That F'ing Rock: Pink Floyd's Meddle

meddle.jpg

So the first album I'm gonna rant about is Meddle by Pink Floyd. First off, if you've never heard of Pink Floyd, please pull your head out of your ass, run outside into the street, and go get run over by a semi. If you HAVE heard of Pink Floyd, then you know of their albums The Wall, The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here ect. Fuckin everyone knows and loves those albums, but Meddle deserves every bit of recognition those albums have achieved over the years.

The first song, One of These Days grabs your brains sensory receptors by the balls with its surging bass, riff-tastic guitar work, and its ridiculously awesome tripped out bass solo. This song, when played really really loud, will probably make you cream you pants with joy.
The next two songs, "A Pillow of Winds" and "Fearless" feature more chilled out and relaxing tones and moods.

The fourth song "San Tropez" is a short jazz inspired pop song with breezy lyrics and a very catchy tune. A very chill song indeed.

The next song, Seamus, is a blues number with a howling dog sounding in the background. It's the only song on the album worth skipping over since it's sort of boring i'll admit, but it grows on you, trust me.

And finally, the last track on the album, titled "Echoes", is Pink Floyd's most tripped out and epic song. The song is 23 minutes long too, and every single second of it is fucking sick! Chocked full of musical prowess and innovation, Echoes is a masterpiece of progressive rock style mixed with funk, trippy sounds, and just plain awesome-ness. This song pretty much sounds like the soundtrack to a tripped out psychedelic space journey into the abyss of the unknown (in fact, this song synchs up to kubric's 2001 a space odyssey if you want some sweet ass trippy space visuals to go along with it; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfgoVZswC4k). If One of These Days didn't make you cream your pants, Then Echoes will probably make you jizz your kidney's right out your dickhole, it really is that good :) Oh and one more thing, don't let the long length of most pink floyd songs deter you, be patient with this kind of music, its very hard to appreciate music like this without an open mind and a desire to journey into the psychedelic abyss

But don't take it from me, GO LISTEN TO THIS ALBUM IT WILL MAKE YOU SO HAPPY YOU'LL SHIT PSYCHEDELIC RAINBOWS FOR A WEEK!

love,
Ryan

THE KIVA 3/10/09

Hey everyone! it me p. ryan mcq here, looks like I decided to make a blog! I saw Vivie's and thought it was a cool idea to make one so i could share my thoughts and shit lol. I fully intend on making this blog everything from badass, funny, scary, insightful, though provoking, informational, and well, just plain kick ass! I plan on discussing many topics, particularly science, technology, underground art forms, music, books, sports, cars, beer & liquor, current events, marijuana, media of all forms, politics, and whatever else I can think of. In depth discussion and opinions strongly encouraged!

Anyways, down to bussiness! So why call it "The Kiva"? Well, a kiva is an ancient underground meeting room and community center built by the ancient Pueblo civilizations. so uh, a kiva is kind of like an ancient form of blogging. lol I dunno, it sounds cool I think :)

Well time to get this shit started! I can't wait to see what you all have to say!
Love,
Ryan
